The data shows the volume of carbon monoxide emissions in the U.S. from 1970 to 2017. In 2000, there was 60.1 million tons of carbon monoxide emissions. Carbon monoxide is emitted from combustion processes and a large share of emissions to ambient air originate from mobile sources. It can reduce oxygen delivery to the human body and in high volumes, it can cause death.
