The data depicts the annual value of fraud losses at cash machines in the UK from 2003 to 2017. Fraud losses at cash machines includes both fraud that takes place at cash machines on stolen cards or where a card account has been taken over by a fraudster, in all cases the fraudster would need the PIN number. The three methods used to commit fraud at cash machines are through card-trapping devices, by skimming, or by shoulder surfing. It can be seen that the highest value of fraud losses at cash machines was found in 2004, when losses amounting to 74.
