The data displays the development of the money supply M1 in the euro area from 2001 to 2017. The money supply is the amount of monetary assets available in an economy. M1, called the "narrow money", includes currency in circulation (banknotes and coins) and overnight deposits. It depicts the value of the most liquid components of the money supply.
