The data displays the development of the reserve assets of the European Central Bank (ECB) from 1999 to 2017. Reserve assets is the capital held back from investment in order to meet possible demands. They are designed to supplement reserves of gold and convertible currencies used to maintain stability in the foreign exchange market. Reserve assets can be used in foreign trade intervention and to finance trade deficits. At the end of 2017, the reserve assets of ECB amounted to approx. 62.04 billion euro.
