The prevalence rate of autism spectrum disorder in Missouri was 14.2 cases per 1,000 children in 2010,11.5 cases per 1,000 in 2012 and 14.1 cases per 1,000 in 2014. Autism spectrum disorder is a developmental disability characterized by deficits in social communication and interaction as well as repetitive behavior, interest, or activity patterns.
