The data displays the monthly change in nonfarm payroll employment in the U.S. by industry sector. The data are seasonally adjusted. According to the BLS, the data is derived from the Current Employment Statistics (CES) program which surveys about 140,000 businesses and government agencies each month, representing approx. 440,000 individual worksites, in order to provide detailed industry data on employment. Employment in education and health services rose by roughly 22,000 in July 2018.
