The data displays the consumption volume of paper and paperboard as an international comparison of leading countries in 2016. In that year, Canada used around 5.6 million metric tons of paper and paperboard.

Paper and paperboard market China and the U.S. are some of the top consumers globally of paper and cardboard products. In 2016, China consumed over 106 million metric tons of paper and cardboard while the U.S. consumed almost 71 million metric tons of these products. However, the U.S. consumes much larger volumes of these products per person at 229 kilograms per capita while China used about 74 kilograms per capita.
